CAMRA BEER SCORING (2026 update)

CAMRA members are encouraged to score beers on the CAMRA website whenever they visit a new outlet, or perhaps a pub they are already familiar with.

This is the easiest way to get involved in the Campaign and can be done when drinking a pint in a pub.

The feedback from this beer scoring is used to help compile the annual Good Beer Guide, in addition to voting for Guide entries at branch meetings on an annual basis.

The website is camra.org.uk

Procedure is as follows :

Open the CAMRA website on your phone and log in with membership number and password. If this is saved on the phone's Bookmarks it stays there, logged in for the next time.

If you are in a pub, click Pubs Nearby and it will allow you to open the page for that pub.

Some beers may already be listed by other members and if you are drinking one of those click on it and enter the score you wish to insert.

If the beer isn't on the list, click on the Search box and type in the name of the beer and it will appear.

If the beer still isn't there, perhaps because it is a new brew, click Enter Beer Manually and do exactly that .

This opens the beer scoring page with six options to choose from. If you click on any of them the system will tell you what it means in terms of beer scoring. Select the one which best suits the beer and hit Submit Score.

When you have got used to using the system, the whole process only takes about 30 seconds to complete.

At the 2026 CAMRA Members Weekend /AGM a vote was passed to make this scoring system mandatory for branches and their members.

Nearby Solway Branch of CAMRA, based at Carlisle, has been doing this for many years.

In the event that a pub is selling a misleading dispense system such as Carlsberg Fresh Ale which is filtered keg beer pulled by handpump, go to the offending pub on this website, page down to Submit an Edit and within that is a text box to add comments about such a beer with its misleading dispense.

Also if you want to add information about a pub regarding perhaps how something has changed in the description, open the CAMRA website, search for the pub, page down to Suggest an Edit, click on that and enter changes or new information.

(Thanks to Alan Welsh, chairman of Solway Branch for much of the above guidance)
