Miles Jessop, MBE, was the owner of the Scafell Hotel in Borrowdale for over 50 years and he retired about 5 years ago. His Riverside Bar was featured in many CAMRA Good Beer Guides over the years. Sadly Miles passed away this week at the age of 84.

Their bar manager is pictured here about 5 years ago, when he was presented with a very special certificate from committee member Hugh Price to celebrate 50 unbroken years of Miles Jessop selling real ales at the Scafell. Miles was unfortunately unable to attend this presentation.

For a number of years his main house beers were from the Copper Dragon Brewery in Skipton.

Unfortunately the Scafell ceased trading about 4 years ago and future plans under current ownership are unknown.
